The Beluga Heights label was founded in 2006 as an equal three-way partnership between Rotem, his manager Zach Katz and his brother Tommy Rotem.[1] According to Katz all three have distinctive roles within the organization, "JR produces all the music, Tommy is the A&R ... and I'm the businessman."[1] The 'Beluga Heights' phrase is commonly found at the start of songs produced by the record label.
